We didn't stay here, but my parents did and we visited them while they were there. Its quite a small hotel and the rooms and bathrooms are also, shall we say, compact. As many reviews on Trip Advisor have mentioned, the hanging space for clothes is above a dressing table/ desk so clothes are literally hanging on it if they're long. Not really ideal. You could make do for a couple of nights, but inconvenient for longer stays. No where to store suitcases so they are in the way. Pool area a reasonable size but lacking in any character. Gym was a nice surprise. Small but really nice. The gem is the rooftop bar with 360 degree views. The bar downstairs is pleasant but small.
Location is outside of Funchal centre but close enough to walk comfortably enough. Easy access to sea promenade. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops close by.
My girlfriend and I visited Madeira this August and we spent 11 days in this hotel with half board. The room had a magnificent view of the city and the sea. We were very satisfied with the hotel and especially with the food in the form of a buffet, which was very tasty. Every evening the food changed, with one evening being mostly Italian cuisine, the next American, etc. The staff was very pleasant, especially Ricardo, who was always happy to make us meat or fish for dinner or an omelette for breakfast, with a very pleasant little talk. I highly recommend it and we would love to come back in the future.
Hotel was very cozy and not crowded. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were amazing! Everyone was kind and friendly. We really appreciated Marco’s service. He was always helpful and made us feel like home. Food was great and varied. The localization is also great. Not too far from the city center and easy to get there catching a bus.

I have been visiting this hotel for 4 weeks over christmas and new year for the last three years on a half board basis . Sadly this year failed to live up to my expectations. I cannot fault the dedication of the staff that remain but there appears to be a lack of staff to cope with the clientele. The evening meals were fine when there was a buffet but the choices when the buffet is not available are very limited. I ate out most of the time. Management are not very visible or sociable whereas the previous management was extremely hands on and friendly. Again I reiterate that the staff and location are great but sadly I will never return to this hotel again.
